Project 4: A Hands On Story

Guidelines

For this assignment you will create an animation using several mediums to animate a popular children's story, myth, or fable in your own way. How literally you depict the story is up to you, and you're welcome to combine stories or add your own twist. Think about how your aesthetics change the story. How do you tell an old story with new technology? Does the story need to be updated? How do you cram the meat and potatoes of the story into a short animation?

Requirements:

The animation should be between one and two minutes long, and must include audio.

The animation should include a minimum of 2 different mediums( 2d digital design, 3d digital design, video, drawing, photography, scanned material, scanned textures, your own audio work, etc.)

None of your 2d imagery (photos, drawings, etc.) can come from the internet.

Make a minimum of two preliminary storyboards (detailing two different ways to visually approach the idea) in your sketchbooks. Select the most effective solution and complete 1-2 story boards.

Animating:

Your animation must include ALL of the following:

1. Create a new composition in AfterEffects that is 320x240 pixels in size and no longer than a minute and a half in length @ 15 fps.

2. When finished make a Movie with the following render settings: 320x240, 15 fps, QuickTime format, MPEG-4 Video Compressor at 75%(High) quality, Faster Compression.

3. Name your movie, YourLastName_4.mov

4. Save your movie to a folder on your hard drive node.

5. Follow the steps for preparing your files and uploading animations to the web.
